All Gemstones are Natural in Origin
The diamonds sit at the rim, not against the ruby. Each earring is an oval disc, and the ruby, an emerald cut standing upright in a plain white bezel, sits by itself in the middle of a field of white metal scrollwork. Only past that scrollwork does the diamond band start: a close ring of small rounds following the oval the whole way around, with a plain polished rim outside it again.
Between the ruby and that band sit four pear cut colorless stones, one at each compass point with the tips turned inward, and these are the only places yellow gold appears on the earring. Each pear has its own yellow bezel; everything else is white. The piece therefore reads as two tone, with the gold used sparingly as accent rather than as an overall warm ground. The ruby is a strong pinkish red, and at 15 by 13 millimeters the oval covers most of the lobe.
