Three concentric outlines build each of these studs. A polished yellow gold ring sits immediately around the oval ruby, then a wide band of pave diamonds, then a final yellow gold rim closing the outer edge, so the white stones are bracketed by warm metal on both sides rather than spilling to the edge.
Four gold claws reach in over the ruby to hold it, and the gap between stone and gold ring leaves the red clean and uninterrupted. Fifty-six diamonds across the pair, thirteen by eleven millimeters, worn flat and reading as a bright target of color at the lobe.
