Each stud centers an oval ruby held in four yellow gold claws, with a ring of small round diamonds set close around it in bright white metal. The halo is built as a scallop, every accent in its own claw so the outer edge breaks into points rather than running smooth, and the two metal colors keep the frame visually separate from the stone it holds.
Forty diamonds across the pair make the surround read as light rather than as countable stones, which pushes the red forward at the middle. Nine by eight millimeters gives the halo enough face to register clearly at the lobe without turning the earrings into drops.
