This is not a solitaire. The ruby weight is spread across three staggered rows of small oval rubies running the full top of a wide sterling silver band, each stone in its own claws so the rows stay open and light passes between them.
Massed together they read as one block of red, deepest through the middle row and lighter at the outer edges where the stones catch the light first. The band behind them is broad, flat and unbroken, and on a size 8 finger the setting spans most of the width of the finger.
