Every stone on this ring is ruby, 5.02 carats in total: a large oval at the center, a full halo of rounds encircling it, and more set into the pierced scrollwork of each shoulder. Using one species throughout rather than framing the center with colorless stones keeps the whole ring in a single red register, and the effect is much denser than a conventional halo. The center oval carries most of the weight and stands well clear of the halo on four claws.
