A round brilliant ruby of 0.89 carats sits high in four slim claws at the top of this ring, its red warm and saturated where the 14K white gold behind it stays cool. The contrast is the point: nothing warm competes with the stone, so the color reads at full strength from across a room.
There is no frame around the ruby. The sixteen diamonds are set instead in two pavé rows running down each shoulder, tapering as they approach a plain knife edge band, so brightness gathers at the sides of the hand and leaves the center to the ruby alone. Diamond weight comes to 0.60 carats across those rows.
