The center stone is a round cabochon, domed and unfaceted, and it returns a broad soft sheen across its whole surface rather than the sharp flashes a faceted ruby would give. Four yellow gold claws hold it above a beaded gold collet, and that gold ring is the only warm note inside the head of the ring.
Around the cabochon the mount opens into an eight-sided panel of white metal, pave set in two concentric rows so the diamonds step outward from the stone in a widening octagon, with a milgrained edge finishing the outer rim. The panel is set on a plain, gently tapering 14K yellow gold shank with an open gallery at each side. Ring size 7 US.
