This is a cluster, not a solitaire. More than a dozen oval rubies are set in a staggered grid across a broad cushion shaped plaque, packed close enough that the silver between them barely shows, with small round white zircons filling the intersections and running as a scalloped border around the outer edge.
Spread across that many stones, 3.50 carats of ruby means each one is small, but massed together they cover a wide face and read as a single field of red on the hand. The white zircon does two jobs: separating the rubies from one another, and outlining the plaque against the sterling silver. The head sits well above the band, a cocktail ring in the full sense.
