This is a flower cluster: a complete ring of oval rubies laid out as petals around a smaller oval ruby at the middle, with the center stone alone given a tight frame of small white stones so it separates from the ring around it. The 5.70 carats quoted for ruby is the sum of all of them, and spreading the weight this way gives a head much wider than a single stone of that weight would produce.
The rubies read a bright pinkish red with visible internal texture, and the white metal outline behind the center keeps the middle of the flower from closing up. Sterling silver, 0.10 carats of white zircon, and a head that sits wide and flat on the finger.
