Almost all the weight is in the two rubies, and they are cut as large pears, hung point up so the full round of the stone swings at the bottom of the earring. Three claws hold each one, one at the tip and two at the base, and no metal crosses the face, which leaves an unbroken sheet of deep red.
The diamonds sit entirely above: a small pear shaped plaque at the lobe, pave set across its face and pointing down toward the stone below. Nothing outlines the ruby itself. Eighteen millimeters overall, seven across at the widest, hinged at the link so the drop moves.
