Three smoky quartz sit in each earring rather than one, and every one of them is ringed by its own halo of small white topaz. The sequence graduates downward: a round stone at the top against the lobe, a smaller round beneath it, then a large pear that fills the bottom half of the drop. The brown of the quartz pulls toward gray where light passes through the narrow shoulders of the pear.
Articulated joints between the three sections let the drop swing on its own. At 30 by 12 millimeters the pair reads as a triple halo drop, the white topaz outlining each stage so the tiered shape stays clear from a few feet away.
