The smoky quartz is a square emerald cut with clipped corners, 8.20 carats held at those corners by four prongs and raised well clear of the finger. Step cut facets run in parallel bands across the table, which suits the color: the brown deepens toward the edges and opens to a warmer cognac through the middle where the stone is thickest.
A tapered baguette of white topaz angles up each shoulder, colorless and sharply rectangular against the soft brown mass beside it. Under the basket the gallery is a plain textured bar of rhodium plated silver, and the shank stays narrow and unadorned, so the scale of the quartz reads without competition.
