A pear cut smoky quartz of 13.78 carats dominates this ring, checkerboard faceted across the crown so the brown reads as a grid of small mirrors rather than as a single flat plane. It is held on yellow gold prongs at the point and at the base.
Around it run two rows of pavé white topaz, 0.44 carats in total, following the pear outline in white metal, and below that the shank widens into a broad band of polished yellow gold. The colour logic is worth noting: a warm brown stone and a warm gold band with a cool white line separating them, which stops the quartz from sinking into the metal. Gold plated sterling silver, ring size 6 US.
