A 5.20 carat Swiss blue topaz anchors this ring, an oval brilliant held in four claws and ringed by a halo of small white topaz. Below the head the shank splits and crosses over itself in two open loops, each loop pavé set with more white topaz, so the light carries from the halo down both shoulders without a break.
Fifty two white topaz do that work in total. Rhodium plated sterling silver keeps the metal in the same cool register as the stone, with no warm tone anywhere to pull against the blue. The head stands high on a size 7 finger and the crossover leaves an open window on either side of the center stone.
