A cushion cut Swiss blue topaz with a checkerboard crown is laid across a round disc pave set with black diamonds, so the blue sits on top while the black shows at either side like a shadow behind it. The crosshatched faceting breaks the surface of the topaz into small squares of light instead of a few long flashes.
Silver tabs hold the topaz at the top and bottom of the cushion, and it is the black diamond disc that gives the 16 millimeter face its round outline. Graphic and two toned, blue over black, with the metal reduced to what is needed to carry both.
