Each drop is a single heart cut Swiss blue topaz, faceted deeply enough that both the cleft at the top and the point at the bottom stay crisp. Around it runs a beaded frame in white metal, a ring of tiny polished domes finished with a milgrain outer edge, so the heart is outlined in texture rather than in further stone. Two hearts, 4.20 carats between them, and nothing else on the earring.
Swiss blue sits at the bright, clean end of the blues that topaz shows, and rhodium plated sterling silver keeps it there. The hearts hang from lever backs at 29 by 12 millimeters, close enough to the lobe that they swing rather than sway.
