The topaz in this pendant is cut as a half moon, a flat straight edge along the top and a curve below. It sits inside a sterling silver frame of overlapping loops, three continuous bands of silver crossing one another, so the stone appears caught between them rather than mounted on top of anything.
The straight edge runs horizontally, which gives the drop a definite top and bottom instead of the symmetry a round or an oval would produce. 4.58 carats, 43 by 21 millimetres, on a fine cable chain.
