An emerald cut Swiss blue topaz of 5.24 carats suspended inside an open oval of polished silver, held on four slim bars that reach in from the frame and grip the stone at its corners. Almost the entire pendant is empty space; the metal is a drawn outline rather than a body, and the topaz floats in the middle of it.
At 48 by 27 mm this is a large piece by area but very light by mass, and the openwork means whatever is worn behind it shows through. The geometry is spare and modern rather than ornamental. Sterling silver.
