A pear cut Swiss blue topaz of 6.08 carats hangs at the centre of an openwork sterling silver frame, its point aimed down. The frame is built from scrolled silver ribbons that curl out into four lobes, leaving most of the surface as open space, so the pendant reads light at 42 by 31 mm despite the size.
The pale blue of the topaz sits against bright polished silver with nothing else to distract, and the open scrollwork lets skin or clothing show through behind the stone. It hangs from a fine cable chain.
