A pear cut Swiss blue topaz of 7.18 carats hangs point down inside a teardrop shaped frame of pierced silver latticework. Frame and stone share the same outline, so the metal amplifies the pear shape instead of contradicting it, and the long 46 millimeter drop that results reads narrow at the neck rather than wide. The lattice is open enough to let light through behind the stone, which matters with a topaz this pale.
