The topaz is a trillion, a rounded triangle set point down, and the halo follows that outline instead of softening it back into a circle. Black diamonds fill the frame and the metal carrying them is blackened to match, so the border reads as one dark band holding a pale blue triangle.
Below the head the sterling silver returns to a bright polish and widens into flat, squared shoulders, which leaves the contrast in the setting as the whole point of the ring. That is 1.88 carats of Swiss blue topaz against 0.14 carats of black diamond, at size 8 US.
