The stone is a pear cut swiss blue topaz set point up, broad through the shoulders and bright right across its face. Slim prongs grip it at the tip and the base only, leaving nearly the whole crown open, which is why the blue reads so strongly from a distance.
Behind the stone the shank divides, and each side of the split is pierced with an openwork heart, with small white topaz following the divided line back toward the finger. The band is silver, plain in finish, deliberately understated under a center stone of 5.18 carats. Size 8 US.
