An emerald cut Swiss blue topaz of 5.65 carats sits alone at the top of this ring, four corner prongs and no halo, so the long step facets are free to run uninterrupted from table to girdle. The blue is a bright open sky tone that stays clear rather than deepening at the edges, and the flat table makes it read large from directly above.
The shoulders are what carry the rest: two tapering triangular panels of white topaz pave that narrow into a plain shank, giving the head a running start on each side without adding height. Sized at 8 US, the ring covers a good part of the finger.
