The tanzanite is an emerald cut, set lengthwise along the finger, and the long parallel steps of that cut hold the color in broad flat planes rather than breaking it into sparks. Violet reads across the table, blue along the sides.
A rectangular halo of small round diamonds squares off the stone, and below it each shoulder divides into two strands that cross over one another, one strand pave set and the other left polished, before they resolve into a plain band. Forty-four round diamonds in total between the halo and those crossings. Ring size 7 US.
