This is a bypass ring: the shank divides into slim bands that cross over one another at the top of the finger, and the three pear cut tanzanites are placed along that crossing rather than lined up on one axis. Each pear gets its own tight halo of white zircon, so the violet-blue stones read as three separate blossoms on a pair of paved stems.
Seventy-nine zircon at 0.40 carats total means very small stones, and they do their work as outline and texture, tracing every curve of the split shank. The three tanzanites shift between blue and purple as the hand turns, which is easier to see on three small stones set at different angles than it would be on one large one. Size 6 US.
