Six marquise cut tanzanites make up the whole cross, one for each arm and two set end to end down the shaft, with 0.82 carats divided between them. Marquise cuts are the right choice for a cross because their points already do the work the shape needs; nothing has to be padded out with metal. Each stone sits inside a beaded border, and a small warm toned bar crosses at the center where the arms meet. The finished piece is 38 by 17 millimeters.
