The dragonfly is drawn stone by stone. A column of small round tanzanites runs the length of the tail and steps up into larger pear cuts at the thorax and head, so the violet to blue shift of the species carries down the whole body instead of pooling in one place.
The wings are pave white topaz laid over blackened openwork, the dark tracery reading as veining against the bright stone, and they sweep back rather than straight out. At 43 by 35 millimeters the span is generous for a figural pendant, and a plain tapered bail keeps it facing forward at the neck.
