The design here is an open oval. A tanzanite of 3.05 carats is held in four claws at the middle of a white gold hoop it never actually touches, caught instead by a polished scroll that sweeps in from the top and curls back beneath the stone at the bottom. Thirty diamonds run along the outer curve of that hoop, 0.15 carats in all, so the light gathers at the rim and the space between rim and stone stays open.
Read at the neck it is a frame rather than a halo, and the empty ground inside it gives a 27 x 17 mm pendant more presence than its footprint suggests. The oval carries violet toward its edges and a cooler blue through the middle, which the plain white metal does nothing to soften.
