The tanzanite is an oval of 3.42 carats, broad enough across the face that the violet and the blue in it separate and swap as the pendant turns at the neck. Four yellow gold claws hold it inside a close halo of round diamonds, and a small fan of diamonds rises off the top of that halo into a tall openwork bail set with two more lines of stones. Forty-one diamonds in total, 0.31 carats.
Halo and bail read as bright white metal against a 14K yellow gold chain, so the piece runs two-tone: warm along the neck, cool where it matters at the stone. The drop measures 24 x 12 x 6 mm on a 16 inch chain.
