The motif is a ribbon. An open pavé hoop encircles the 3.55 carat oval tanzanite without ever touching it, and above the stone that same diamond line loops back on itself into a knot, crossed by two smooth yellow gold leaves that curl away to either side. The tanzanite is claw set in yellow gold at the base of the arrangement, so warm metal and white alternate the whole way up the drop.
Worn at the neck the openwork registers before anything else, the empty ground inside the hoop counting for as much as the stones set on it. The pendant runs 29 x 13 x 6 mm and hangs from a matching yellow gold chain of 16 inches, with 0.35 carats of diamonds across hoop and knot.
