The frame is a rosette. Eight marquise-shaped panels of white pavé ring the oval tanzanite like petals, and between every pair of them a small triangular wedge of yellow gold points inward at the stone, so the surround alternates cool and warm the whole way around. Above it the bail is a yellow gold marquise with its own teardrop panel of diamonds set into the face.
All of that comes to sixty-four diamonds and 0.35 carats worked around a 3.77 carat stone. At 29 x 16 x 6 mm the pendant is broad enough to read clearly on a 16 inch chain, and the yellow gold pulls the warmer violet forward in a tanzanite that would run bluer in a white setting.
