The tanzanite hangs point down on three prongs inside an open frame that tapers to a point above and below the stone and crosses over itself at each end. The diamonds follow that frame rather than hugging the stone, so a thin line of daylight stays visible between the two, and further diamonds fill the ribbed collar and the looped bail above.
At 6.51 carats the pear is the entire subject here; the frame only draws its outline. The drop runs 37 millimeters from the top of the bail and hangs from a fine white gold rope chain of 16 inches, which sets it high on the chest rather than low.
