The face of this ring is a broad oval dome pave set with roughly seventy small round tanzanites, held in tiny beads with almost no metal showing between them. Color varies from stone to stone, pale lilac in places and a deeper violet blue in others, which gives the dome a mottled surface rather than one flat wash of color.
The 1.98 carats is the sum of all those small stones; there is no single center stone here at all. A polished rim runs around the pave, and wide flat shoulders step down into the shank, so the ring carries the scale of a signet with a face that is entirely gemstone.
