This is a double halo, and it is what you notice first. An emerald cut tanzanite of 3.00 carats sits under four claws at the middle, and two concentric rows of diamonds step outward from it, corners cut off so the whole head resolves into an octagon rather than a rectangle. Seventy diamonds build those rows, 0.30 carats between them, and they roughly double the width the stone would cover on its own.
The shank stays plain: narrow, polished white gold with no stones on the shoulders at all, which is exactly why the head reads as large as it does. Step cutting gives the tanzanite broad flat planes instead of small scattered flashes, so the violet-blue sits in sheets of color. Ring size 7 US.
