Seen from the side, the ring shows exactly how the tanzanite is carried. Four flat white gold prongs reach up over the girdle and the stone rides high on an open gallery with daylight visible underneath it. The violet blue gathers across the top of the crown and cools toward the edges.
Fine pave diamonds run down both shoulders and continue into the scrolled arms that brace the head, so the light does not stop where the setting begins. Behind the finger the shank narrows to a plain rounded band.
