The halo on this ring is scalloped rather than smooth. Small milgrained arcs of white gold step around the oval tanzanite in a lobed outline, each carrying its own short run of diamonds, so the frame reads as a scored, worked edge instead of a plain circle. Two small round diamonds sit in bezels on each shoulder, spaced well apart on an otherwise clean band.
Thirty-two diamonds in all, 0.35 carats, a modest count for a head this decorated; most of the visual weight comes from the shaping of the metal rather than the stones set into it. The tanzanite runs 3.47 carats and sits raised clear of the shank. Ring size 7 US.
