Width is what this ring is built for. A 3.58 carat oval tanzanite takes four claws inside a single row halo, and from either side of that halo the shoulders open out into broad pavé triangles, wide where they meet the head and drawn to a point where they join a plain white gold shank. Head and wings together cover a considerable stretch of finger.
Forty-six diamonds do all of that work, 0.38 carats spread between the halo and the two triangles. Every part of the setting is white metal, so nothing warms the stone: the violet-blue reads at its coolest and stays the only color anywhere on the hand. Ring size 7 US.
