The construction is what carries this ring. An oval tanzanite of 4.70 carats sits in four prongs, circled first by a pave halo tight to the girdle, then by a second pave halo that floats outside it with an open channel of air between the two. Four short crossed bars of pave, placed on the diagonals, bridge that gap and carry the outer ring, giving the head a caged look from directly above.
All one hundred and two diamonds go into that structure. The shank is left plain and polished with no stones on the shoulders, so nothing but the width of the double frame competes with the violet-blue at the center. Sized 7 US.
