Nine tanzanites form the flower at the center of this cluster: one round brilliant in the middle with eight trillion cut stones fanned around it, flat edges turned outward so the face reads as a single open blossom. A broad border of small round white topaz surrounds it, deep enough to show as a double row where it widens at the sides.
The head is domed and nearly circular, wide across the finger, and it steps down sharply to a plain tapered shank. Because the trillions and the round face in different directions, the violet and blue shift at different moments as the hand moves, so the cluster never settles into one flat color. Total weight is 2.22 carats.
