The frame around this oval tanzanite is not a row of round stones but a fan of tapered baguette white topaz, two dozen or so, radiating outward from the center in a ballerina skirt. Each baguette is prong set at its outer tip, so the skirt lifts slightly off the finger and returns light in long strokes rather than small points.
The tanzanite sits in four claws at the middle of it, oval, with the violet blue pooling deeper through the center of the stone. Wide flat shoulders run straight into the skirt on both sides. Total weight is 2.44 carats, and on the hand the ring reads far larger than the center stone alone would suggest.
