A honeycomb: around thirteen hexagonal cells outlined in bright silver, staggered in three rows across a wide band, each one filled with small yellow diamonds pave set right to its edges. The 0.74 carats is the total across every stone in every cell. The structure is what makes this piece; yellow diamonds massed in a plain field would simply read as a yellow band, whereas dividing them into bordered cells sets warm stone against cool metal over and over and holds the color in place. The band is domed and deep, and the honeycomb wraps well down the sides.
