Yellow gold behind green is the older pairing and it behaves differently from white metal: the warmth of the 14K gold claws bleeds into the edges of the stone and pulls the emerald a shade toward gold rather than blue. Three rounded gold beads hold each pear, two at the base and one at the point.
The stones are pear cut at 8 by 5 millimeters, worn point up, and nothing sits behind them, so light passes through the back of the setting and out through the face. They read as two clear green teardrops at the lobe with a warm line drawn around each.
