Seven round black diamonds, one at the center and six closed around it, prong set into the top of a ring whose shoulders are cut into deep ribs that fan away from the cluster.
The ribbing is why this works. The fluted gold plating throws light in bands while the black diamonds absorb it, and that contrast makes nine tenths of a carat look considerably larger than it measures. The dome sits high but the ribs taper fast into the band. Size 8.
