Almost a full carat in one round black diamond, held by broad split claws that reach up from a wide polished band. Unlike the cluster versions of this stone, everything here is committed to a single center: the shank sweeps up uninterrupted, opens into two channels either side of the head, and leaves the diamond standing clear. Black reads as absence rather than color, so against bright gold plating the stone works as a void in the metal rather than as a highlight on it.
