Three rows deep, not one. Oval rhodolite garnets and oval opals alternate both across the width and along the length, staggered row to row so the top surface turns into a checkerboard of raspberry red and milky white rather than a stripe of one beside the other.
The two materials behave differently and that is the point. The garnets are faceted and throw light back in points; the opals are cut as low domes and glow evenly instead. Twenty four carats spread this way makes a substantial band across the wrist, and a wide box clasp with a safety catch closes the 7.5 inch length.
