Oval rubies run in two parallel rows the whole way around, and between each pair sits an X worked in white metal and set with small round accent stones. The crossing motif breaks the red into regular groups and gives the band a woven look rather than a straight line, while yellow prongs grip every oval from the outside so the warm plating outlines each stone.
Sixteen and a fraction carats spread across that many ovals keeps the individual stones modest, with the impact coming from massing and from the double width of the band. The two tone effect is deliberate: warm gold against the red, cool white at every crossing. At seven and three quarter inches it has genuine breadth on the wrist and fastens with a box clasp and safety catches.
